Currently, the most popular Xbox games out that have the most sold copies and active online players are Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Halo. Call of Duty and Halo are very competitive rivals and alternate between being the number one online player game on the market.
At the moment, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has over 2.5 million online player in all of the play lists combined and including those playing single player, and when Halo 3 first came out, it had players reaching near 8 million! Call of Duty sold over $550 million dollars in just the first week from sales of Modern Warfare 2.
For right now, Call of Duty may be on top of its competition against Halo, but Bungie has been cooking up a secret weapon of its own. In September, Bungie will be ready to release Halo Reach – which is supposed to dominate the gaming market and sell more than any Call of Duty game out.
Both games – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Halo – include expanding map packs that sell for about twenty bucks, which is smart – because not only do the games require you to use these maps, but you must buy them (they’re not free), and it makes the game live on a bit longer.
Without expanding map packs, these games would die out fast, but since the game is constantly changing, it gives gamers new challenges to look forward to. Gamers are looking to see how well Halo Reach does when it enters the market because rumor has it, it will knock Call of Duty off its roost as top game.
